The importance of seed

Control Food, You control People.....
Let's clear out the terms first, which is very confusing at the beginning. But, when you understand the terms you understand the game. The game, being played world wide. To control our food, our future.
TERMS:
SEED: A seed is an embryonic plant enclosed in a protective outer covering called the seed coat.
In basic terms, the common knowledge tells us that we grow plants from seeds. From those plants, more seeds come out and these seeds become the next generation plants. That is the knowledge left to us so far with our "Modern Life style". But the things have changed after we moved into the cities and left our gardens behind. Let's have a look what have changed. The most important thing is to know about what is a real seed, which is in the explanation we just talked about. It is called Heirloom Seed.
HEIRLOOM SEED: Heirloom Seed means, a plant, which is grown from generations to generations, using the same plant's own seeds for the following generation plant growth. These varieties provide the same type of plant. The same type of plant provides the same type of seeds. It means when you have a heirloom seed, you can sustainably continue your gardening without buying new seeds.
These Heirloom Seeds are Open-Pollinated seeds and passed down from generations to generations. Seeds from heirloom vegetables are true to type, meaning that you can save the seed from a certain plant and expect to get the same thing when you go ahead and plant those seeds again next season.
Now it comes the tricky part. What has changed? Well, we have discovered that there is a DNA structure behind every living being and we thought that if we Quick Fix those living beings here and there, it can make those living beings more perfect. Basically more effective for our consumer based life style.
With that modifications we created below Terms;
HYBRID SEED:
Hybrid vegetable seeds are created by artificially crossing two or more varieties of a certain plant. Hybrid vegetables are what one typically sees being sold in your local grocery store: those rows of bright, uniform tomatoes, carrots, and peppers are probably grown from hybrid seeds.
One big disadvantage with hybrids is that you cannot save the seed: resulting seeds may be either sterile or produce a plant totally unlike its original. Although hybrid plants produce fruit that ripens at the same time and may be more resistant to pests or diseases, they’re not selected for their taste. They are typically selected for appearance and shelf life. Hybrid seeds are typically more expensive than heirlooms, too.
GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISM and GMO SEED: A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. Organisms that have been genetically modified include micro-organisms such as bacteria and yeast, insects, plants, fish, and mammals. Genetic modification involves the mutation, insertion, or deletion of genes. Inserted genes usually come from a different species in a form of horizontal gene-transfer.
Genetically modified crops(GMCs, GM crops, or biotech crops) are plants used in agriculture, the DNA of which has been modified using genetic engineering techniques. In most cases the aim is to introduce a new trait to the plant which does not occur naturally in the species.
In Nature, as it is self evolving system, there is also gene transfer between the spicies but this occurs over an evolutionary time scale. The difference with our Quick Fixing minds that we forced this thousands or million years of time scale into couple of years. The intention was to create more yield or more resistance to the pests and deseases as we moved into machinery farming with monocultures after Green Revolution and the discovery of fossil fuel power of Oil.
The catch here is 2 things;
1. Power and Money game of GMO foods
1. Health Issues of consuming those GMO foods
1. Power and Money game of GMO foods: Genetic Engineering is a costly thing and playing with living being's DNA is a dangerous ground. So, why the companies spend millions of dollars, euros for those engineering work? The issue is, this engineering is fallen into Evil's hands. You do not believe there is Evil? 1. Health Issues of consuming those GMO foods:
There is a growing awareness on GMO foods and their health risks. Labelling is mandatory in Europe and many other countries. The issue is, a governmental research for all those contries somehow not going up to speed as it should be. There are researches from some Non-Governmental Institutues, proving the health risks but not recognized by the governments. The story around this issue is also explained in detail on above documentary.

ORGANIC FARMING and Organic Seed: Organic farming is a form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost, and biological pest control.
The important thing here is to understand, "the way of farming". It doesn't mean, the seeds are used in this way of farming are Heirloom Seeds. Generally speaking, if the people are following organic principles in their farm or garden, they aim to use and propogate Heirloom seeds and plants but the knowledge and awareness still needs to be increased. The seed distribution mechanism on Heirloom Seeds are blocked by the Governments. Heirloom seeds, by law, in many countries, are forbidden to sell. The only way at the moment to exchange these seeds is in the Seed Swap events.
Do you see the power on GMO companies? The real seed(Heirloom Seed or Open-Pollinated Seed) is forbidden by law to sell but GMO seeds are free. Some Corporations are openly trying to make us slaves by creating patent for the seeds and own the plants we eat. The only ones who stand against this Evil made companies are the seed saving organizations.

I hope above explanations are useful. If you also want to make a difference and support Heirloom seeds and Organic way of farming, the best thing you can do is to change your shopping habits. If you invest on Organic products, your demand will create its own momentum. You can also support by donating some money or being a member of a seedsaving organization in your area.
