STREET TRANSFORMATIONS

Streets that breathe, nourish, and connect — greener neighbourhoods for everyone

Our streets are more than routes from A to B. In the past, streets were designed around a single purpose: moving vehicles as quickly and efficiently as possible. Pavements were sealed with asphalt and concrete, trees were removed to widen lanes, and rainwater was funnelled into drains as fast as it could go. The result was efficient, yes — but it came at a cost. Urban temperatures rose. Flash flooding became more frequent. Wildlife disappeared from our neighbourhoods.

With thoughtful design, we can change this direction. The streets can cool the air on hot summer days, slow and absorb heavy rainfall, provide habitat and food sources for insects and birds, clean fine particles from the atmosphere, and create the kind of public spaces where people actually want to linger. The street, reimagined, becomes part of the city's ecological infrastructure — as important in its own way as parks, waterways, and nature reserves.

Towards Nature Permaculture Landscaping

Design & implementation for regenerative urban landscapes

Towards Nature applies permaculture principles to the urban environment — designing street and community landscapes that are ecologically functional, locally rooted, and built to thrive with minimal intervention. From initial site assessment and community consultation through to planting, installation, and ongoing stewardship support, we bring every project from concept to living reality.
